Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Medical Doctor?

A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is the highest degrees a nurse can earn. Unlike a PhD in nursing, which focuses on research, a DNP emphasizes nursing practice. A DNP gives nurse practitioners an opportunity to advance their clinical practice and build their leadership skills.

A Medical Doctor (MD) is a medical degree for physicians. The term “MD” also commonly refers to licensed doctors who’ve graduated from an accredited medical school.

What insurance providers does Plum accept?

Plums goal is to be inclusive. To achieve that goal we work with our insurance partners to accept a wide range of insurance providers servicing the Midland/Odessa metro area. Reference the list below for insurance options.

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield - In Network

  • United Healthcare - In Network

  • Aetna - In Network

  • Cigna - In Network

  • OMNI IMS - In Network

  • Humana (Choice Care PPO) - In Network

Notice: Starting in January 2023 Plum has submitted notice and is terminating our contract to be in network with Medicaid. The main factor in the decision relates to lack of support from Medicaid’s Operating Groups, and failure to provide payment for services rendered. Plum is working with our current patients covered under these plans to transition their care to other providers, update their insurance if it has changed in 2023, or allowing them too switching to other service offerings provided by Plum to support their future care needs.

Insurance can be a complex topic with many of the private insurance plans falling within one of the above networks. Please contact our staff to assist you with any questions and to confirm eligibility.
